2019 Meiomi Chardonnay 2019 Meiomi Chardonnay, From California Winemaker Notes; Smooth, opulent layers of stone fruit and hints of citrus and apple are heightened by sweet smells of ripe tropical fruit, honey, and baking spices. The full flavors are highlighted by minerality and juiciness in the palate and a rich, plush finish. California’s most praised white wine, Chardonnay is also the state’s most planted white grape variety. Diverse terrain and microclimates allow for an incredible range of wine styles. Wagner is the son of Chuck Wagner, the proprietor of the famous Napa winery Caymus Vineyards. Meiomi makes two wines, a white wine from Chardonnay and a red wine from Pinot Noir, both of which are blends of fruit from three coastal regions: Sonoma County, Monterey County and Santa Barbara County. The name Meiomi means “coast” in the language of the Wappo and Yuki peoples indigenous to the region. In 2015, Joe Wagner sold Meiomi Wines to Constellation Brands for $315 million. Wagner agreed to stay on as a consulting winemaker for the 2016 and 2017 vintages.
