This vintage I.W. Harper Gold Medal Bourbon was bottled and exported for the Italian market. The I.W. Harper brand was introduced in the 1870s by the Bernheim Brothers. The ‘I.W.’ refers to the initials of Isaac Wolfe Bernheim, but a different surname was chosen for marketability. Did you know that during Prohibition, I.W. Harper was one of the few bourbon brands that could still be produced? It was declared a medicinal whiskey, and the Bernheim Brothers received a license to continue distilling it.
