The Tosba Warash mezcal is produced using wild maguey Warash, which is only found in Sierra Norte, Oaxaca. While this agave is known to grow in the region, this particular release from Tosba marks the first time a commercially available mezcal has been made from Warash. As of September 2018, this agave had not yet been classified by the Consejo Regulador del Mezcal (CRM). Biologists from the CRM have reportedly noted that this agave is not listed in the CRM catalog, which is why the label of this mezcal specifies A. sp (Warash).
