This 1989 is part of the 2018 Special Releases and comes from whisky aged for 28 years in re-fill American Oak hogsheads. Bottled, as is the custom for this range, at a natural cask strength with a limited run of 4,680 bottles for the world making every bottle from this distillery that was officially closed for good in 1993, incredibly precious. Pittyvaich whiskies have a reputation for being idiosyncratic but we find this malt to be quite the opposite with an overall charming and appealing nature. \nThe aromas are centered on notes of cooked malt that takes turns mingling with perfectly ripe tropical fruits, candied ginger, raw flax, fresh cut sugar cane, pumpkin seed and coconut. \nThe palate turns to more citrus and spice flavors as the slippery texture glides the whisky across the palate picking up notes of white chocolate and hints of tobacco along the way.
